Why is re-use important?
The UK produces more than 434 million tonnes of rubbish every year. This rate of rubbish generation would fill the Albert Hall in London in less than 2 hours. Most of our rubbish ends up in landfill sites, or is burned in incinerators. This is a terrible waste of resources, yet most of the things we throw away could be valuable to someone, somewhere.
This website helps people all over Coventry and Warwickshire to find a new use for our unwanted items. Re-using unwanted things is even better for the environment than recycling them as we don’t need to use energy, water and other resources on reprocessing them.
Please tell your friends and family about CommunityFreebay.co.uk – the more people we have using the site, the more successful it will be.
371 million gallons of water...
If everyone in the UK obtained one second hand garment each year instead of buying a new one, it would save 371 million gallons of water (about 15,000 swimming pools worth) and 480 tonnes of chemical dyes.
